Each weekend parents swarm to the shores of a local lake to cheer on their child/children as they compete in a rowing regatta. The noise they make is deafening as the children – in ones, fives or nines – strain on oars, vying for a place in the finals of the Head of the River.
It’s great to see mums and dads out there encouraging the kids. It’s even nicer to see mums with potential candidates in arms, braving the chill winds and waiting for the sun to warm the bones. This mum and child were rugged up at the regatta a couple of weeks back. I like the closeness of the subjects and the obvious bond that leaps out. But maybe that’s just me being reminded of what it was like to hold a warm bundle.
Hope you like it.
