Tigers are brilliant animals. The have a majesty about them like no other. Sadly, fewer than 3500 animals exist in the wild – a number that is shrinking daily. In fact, the WWF reckons China, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam each have only about 30 wild tigers left. Chances of them getting together to have a special hug must be pretty slim!
This gorgeous creature lives at Australia Zoo in Queensland. Now, wildlife photography is definitely not my strong suit but when this poser looked into my camera I was lucky enough to click at the right moment. I think it’s kind of awesome. Makes me go awwwww.
Strangely, the biggest threat to tigers is the same as their biggest hope – us. check out The World Wildlife Fund’s page on helping to save the tiger here or the Save Tigers Now website. It isn’t just a call for money, there are no cost things everyone can do. Personally I think the world would be a little sadder without tigers.
“Tyger, tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?”
– William Blake
